News in Brief

A five-mile linear park comprising public and private lands will give uninterrupted waterfront access to residents and visitors.

The ordinance proposed by City of Miami Commissioner Ken Russell, District 2, passed 3–2.

“The Miami Baywalk Greenway will transform the core of our city into a connected, active neighborhood from Brickell to Edgewater,” said Commissioner Russell. “This will realize the 1979 charter amendment that has never come to fruition. The old charter left it up to developers on their own timeframe. The new ordinance brings it into the city’s park system and allows us to negotiate with private sections to go now and open to public.”
